BOJ holds rates at 1.25% by 8-1 vote; says inflation now 'generally consistent' with 2% target for first time since 2013

The Bank of Japan kept its policy rate unchanged at 1.25% by an 8-1 vote, the highest since 1995, saying underlying inflation is now "generally consistent" with its 2% target for the first time since adopting it in 2013, while leaving the door open for a rate hike in December. The BOJ also accelerated its ETF sales, which at the current pace would take about 43 years to complete.
