Brent surges above $116, five-month high, as hopes fade for end to US-Israeli war on Iran

Brent crude surged above $116 a barrel, its highest since May, as hopes faded for an end to the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz told the Financial Times the U.S. could still be stuck in a stalemate with Iran a year from now. The move extends Thursday's 4% rally and takes Brent's 2026 gain above 80%.
