Japan September core CPI rises 2.1% y/y, first time above 2% in 9 months

Japan's September core CPI (excluding fresh food) rose 2.1% year-on-year, up from 1.7% in August and the first reading above 2% in nine months, in line with expectations. Headline CPI rose 2.1% (est 2.1%, prev 1.9%) and core-core excluding fresh food and energy rose 2.4% (est 2.3%, prev 1.9%).
