Samsung and SK Hynix confirm China factory upgrades to advanced memory chips

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix confirmed to Reuters they are upgrading their China factories to produce more advanced memory chips, aiming to fend off competition from a fast-growing Chinese rival and meet huge AI demand. Samsung is moving its Xian plant to 286-layer NAND, while SK Hynix is eyeing 240 layers or more at its Dalian fab.
