Türkiye sells record 85 tonnes of gold this year to defend lira, import energy

Türkiye has sold a record 85 tonnes of gold (worth $10.93 billion) this year to defend the lira, import energy and for financial and gold-for-USD swap agreements. Russia has sold 56 tonnes year-to-date, second after Türkiye, amid rising cost of war.
