Citi expects a memory undersupply to persist through 2031, driven by surging AI demand for HBM, DDR5 and enterprise SSDs, according to a note relayed by analyst Sam Badawi. HBM bit demand is projected to rise 62% in 2027 and 69% in 2028. Citi now sees the HBM supply/demand gap widening to -36% in 2028, from -22% in 2026 and -21% in 2027.
