Egypt's el-Sisi directs parliament to authorize armed forces to protect Saudi Arabia and Gulf states if requested

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has directed the Egyptian parliament to convene in an emergency session to grant the armed forces the necessary authorization to protect and support Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states if requested, saying the move is purely defensive and that Egypt will not abandon the Gulf, in coordination with King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
