EU's von der Leyen proposes Kids Act banning social media under 13, with 13-14s limited to parent-controlled accounts capped at 1 hour a day

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the Commission is proposing the Kids Act: no social media under 13, and 13- to 14-year-olds only parent-controlled "mini accounts" capped at 1 hour a day, with full personal accounts from 15. The proposal would also require platforms to verify users' ages and disable certain addictive design features by default.
