Germany's finance ministry drafts law to scrap crypto holding period tax exemption from 2027

Germany's finance ministry (Bundesfinanzministerium) has drafted a law to scrap the crypto holding period (Krypto-Haltefrist) tax exemption: from 1 January 2027, gains on Bitcoin and other crypto bought after that date would be taxed regardless of how long they are held, ending the current tax-free status after one year.
