Tropical Storm Isaias has intensified into a Category 1 hurricane in the Gulf, about 290 km northwest of Progreso, Yucatán, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 km/h) and higher gusts, the National Hurricane Center said. Hurricane warnings were issued for parts of the northern Gulf Coast, and the storm is forecast to reach Category 2 as it approaches. Florida has declared a state of emergency in 25 counties.
