Şimşek says disinflation timetable may slip slightly, confirms public worker and pensioner pay rises at least in line with inflation

Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said the disinflation timetable may extend somewhat, while confirming that public worker and pensioner salaries will rise at least in line with inflation, including for 2027. He also said the government will not abandon disinflation during the election period, acknowledged significant inertia in services inflation, and noted that current account targets for 2024 and 2025 were largely met, adding that inflation would be at least 7 points lower were it not for the war.
