Iran loses control of Strait of Hormuz; tankers resume movement, Rubio says strait open

Iran has lost control of the Strait of Hormuz and tankers have resumed transiting the waterway, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio saying the strait is now open and almost as much oil is flowing through it as before the conflict, except Iranian oil. An Iranian army spokesperson, Mohammad Akraminia, says only a small number of unspecified foreign vessels and oil tankers have passed through. The strait is the world's most important oil chokepoint.
