Kenya Association of Manufacturers files High Court petition challenging 433% excise duty hike on imported sugar

The Kenya Association of Manufacturers has filed a High Court petition challenging a 433% increase in excise duty on imported industrial sugar, from Sh7.50 to Sh40 per kilogram under the Finance Act 2026. The new rate took effect on 1 July 2026.
