KOSPI closes at 6,870.81, down on the day as foreign investors sell a net 2.9 trillion won

South Korea's KOSPI closed at 6,870.81, extending its slide below the 6,900 level after the Chuseok holiday, with foreign investors selling a net 2.9 trillion won and semiconductor shares leading declines on US interest-rate concerns. Samsung Electronics fell to around 274,000 won and SK Hynix dropped about 2%.
