MI5 issues rare public warning over Chinese institute's spy threat to UK universities

MI5 issued a rare public espionage alert naming the China General Technology Research Institute (CGTRI), which it says has very strong ties to China's Ministry of State Security, warning that it is secretly trying to exploit UK universities and research bodies to help Beijing build more powerful capabilities, and urging universities to cut ties.
