Microsoft to scale Azure Maia to multi-gigawatt deployments in 2027; Maia 300 to begin production

Microsoft says it will scale its Azure Maia system to multi-gigawatt deployments in 2027 as its primary inference platform, aiming to deploy more than 1 million chips. Maia 300, built on TSMC, delivers 40% more tokens per megawatt than leading GPU systems and up to 7x the rack-scale throughput of Maia 200, with production beginning in 2027. Maia 200 is already deployed in the US, Europe and Australia.
