SUI Cofounder Sam Blackshear leaves Mysten Labs for Anthropic — Sam Blackshear via X: "I am leaving Mysten Labs and joining Anthropic to work on defensive security research. 4.17pm 8.5.26 Are we cooked? Why would a founder of SUI which supposedly has the potential to be the underlayer of the internet and infinite market cap leave to join a company to be just one of the ranks. This makes no sense, ...unless he thinks SUI doesn't have a bright future? What are we to think about this? Was there some drama or tension at Mysten or is this more about greater opportunity than being the #1 L1?

Cofounder of SUI is leaving for Anthropic... 😬... Where are Leemon and Mance? Oh yea, still highly dedicated and working hard on Hedera. 💪🤠

I question that you know that much about move that there's nothing for him to do he can literally do the same thing for SUI making it quantum proof Etc for AI Etc. To go from your own project where you have authority and mastery of the domain to joining another team leaves many many questions. I'm a business owner and generally speaking not in a million years would I go work for someone else. There's something else going on we don't know about. The only glimmer of hope I'm holding on to is that he somehow convinces anthropic to integrate SUI.

100% there's something more to the story we don't know about. I'd love to be on board with the anthropic misten merge or partnership but it wouldn't make sense for Sam to jump ship if that's the plan. Regardless there's a chance he will somehow integrate SUI with anthropic, but I suppose there's also a chance he would just start up a new and better blockchain co-designed by anthropic using move.
@cointon
From most to least likely. We’re cooked. Anthropic buys Mysten Labs next year. Anthropic integrates SUI into its agentic AI. Why Sam for defensive security research? How is he uniquely qualified for that role? Is it a cover story? Sounds fishy.
