BREAKING: NHTSA opens an audit into nearly 1,000 Tesla Cybercabs over federal safety-standard compliance. NHTSA is still stuck in the past & using an old-world rulebook built for steering wheels and pedals. Tesla’s real-world data shows FSD is far safer than human driving. https://t.co/ST2uLkDQ5d

U.S. REGULATORS JUST OPENED AN AUDIT INTO NEARLY 1,000 TESLA CYBERCABS. NHTSA is examining how Tesla certified the Cybercab under federal safety standards despite the vehicle lacking permanently attached steering wheels, pedals and mirrors.

1,000 Cybercabs (estimated).. there's no way there's anywhere close to 1,000 Cybercabs. I want to provide some more context on this,. The document shows this is opened as an Audit Query (AQ) rather than an enforcement order or injunction. An AQ is NHTSA's formal mechanism to https://t.co/9JuhVy6NCI

NHTSA ruling for $TSLA is a nothing burger. When the officials testing the newly released Cybercab by riding in it, studying the safety features and seeing behind the scenes, they’ll understand that even though the Tesla vehicle has no pedals or steering wheel is the safest

@wholemars

I think NHTSA is just doing their job. They probe everything autonomous vehicle related, as we would expect them to. I don’t think they’re going to take issue with anything. Their mission is road safety. And this administration is very supportive of AVs with no controls.
