Paramount closes $81bn acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, creating vast media empire

Paramount has closed its $81 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, one of the biggest media mergers of all time, bringing CNN, CBS, HBO and Paramount under one roof. The combined company will trade under the new symbol $SKYD. David Ellison is chairman and CEO and Ynon Kreiz co-CEO, with Brian Thompson retained as CNN chief. Justice Kagan denied a last-minute bid to halt the merger.
