Protests sweep French schools; 2,000 blockaded as Macron convenes ministers over crisis

More than 250,000 people rallied across France as students, teachers and parents protested deteriorating schools, staffing shortages and government policy, with 2,000 high schools blockaded and police charging crowds in Paris. President Emmanuel Macron convened several ministers on Tuesday to address the crisis, after a fortnight of student protests that began in Paris's deprived suburbs.
