Treasury warns foreign banks they could face sanctions for doing business with Iran

The US Treasury Department warned foreign financial institutions Monday that they could face sanctions without advance notice if they continue doing business with sanctioned Iranian financial institutions. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent separately warned that those providing fuel to aircraft landing in Iran could be knocked out of the dollar system, closing the last gap in Iran's aviation sanctions.
