Trump attacks Fed after first rate hike in three years, says he still trusts Chair Warsh but wants rates cut to 1%
President Donald Trump fired back at the Federal Reserve after it raised rates 25 basis points to 3.75%-4.00% on Sept 16 -- its first hike since July 2023, by unanimous vote -- saying he still trusts Trump-picked Chair Kevin Warsh but demanding rates be cut to 1%. He has accused the Fed board of raising rates to harm him politically.
