UK August public sector net borrowing jumps to £18.3bn, far above £15.5bn forecast

UK public sector net borrowing (PSNB ex banking groups) came in at £18.3bn for August, against £1.8bn a year earlier and a £15.5bn estimate. Central government net cash requirement was £10bn versus £2.8bn previously, and the public sector net cash requirement swung to £10bn from -£29bn.
