UK FCA publishes final crypto guidance; lending and borrowing not standalone activities, registrations won't convert

The UK Financial Conduct Authority published final guidance on which crypto activities need its authorisation, covering stablecoin issuance, trading, custody and staking. Crypto lending and borrowing will not be regulated as standalone activities, falling instead under existing dealing, arranging or custody rules. Applications open September 30, with full rules taking effect October 25, 2027; existing registrations will not convert automatically.
