US consumer sentiment falls to 46.3 in October as inflation expectations rise

The University of Michigan consumer sentiment index fell to 46.3 in October, its lowest level since May's record low and below expectations of 47.6, down from 48.1 in September. One-year inflation expectations rose to 4.7% from 4.6%, while five-year expectations rose to 3.5% from 3.4%.
