US core PCE inflation falls to lowest since February; prior month revised down

US core PCE inflation eased in August to its lowest level since February, with a downward revision to the prior month's reading, according to the released data. Core PCE rose 0.2% MoM versus 0.3% expected, with the annual rate at 3.0% against 3.3% expected; headline PCE was 0.3% MoM and 3.4% YoY. More than $230 billion was added to gold and silver within two minutes of the release.
