US import prices rose 0.7% in August, far above the 0.4% expected; export prices up 0.6%

US import prices rose 0.7% in August, according to Labor Department data, above economists' expectations of a 0.4% increase and following a 0.3% decline in July. Export prices rose 0.6% in August, also above the 0.5% forecast, after a 1.4% decline the previous month.
